Metal Ring Gasket Industry knowledge

Gansu Juxiang Fluoroplastics Technology Co.,Ltd. supplies Metal Ring Gasket for flange joints that must hold at high temperature and high pressure. Our range covers R, RX and BX geometries, including octagonal and oval R rings, RX lens gaskets and BX self-tightening rings. We produce them in soft iron, carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex and nickel alloys, and machine special sizes to customer drawings. The gaskets sit within our wider sealing range, alongside Modified PTFE Gasket and Expanded PTFE Reinforced Flange Gasket for lower-pressure or chemically aggressive duties.

As a Metal Ring Gasket manufacturer in China, we work from the flange standard, groove number, working point and material requirement rather than from a catalogue size alone. The XF7200 series is listed in this category; non-standard rings are produced to drawings or samples.

Metal Ring Gasket Range and Application Fit

R rings seal through line contact between the ring and groove faces. The octagonal form is common for standard ring-joint flanges; the oval form is used where the groove or legacy flange calls for it. RX rings are lens-shaped and begin with line contact before seating more broadly as pressure rises. BX rings are pressure-energized and self-tightening, which suits API 6A wellhead equipment and high-pressure vessels where flange separation must be limited.

Execution standards include ASME B16.20, API 6A and GB/T 9128.1/GB/T 9182.2. Typical service includes oil and gas production trees, hydrogenation equipment in petrochemical plants and high-pressure vessels.

Ring type Geometry Sealing behavior Typical fit
R octagonal Octagonal cross-section Line contact at groove faces; high seating stress Standard ring-joint flanges, moderate to high pressure
R oval Oval cross-section Conforms to groove; older flange designs Legacy and replacement joints
RX Lens-shaped Initial line contact, then broader contact under pressure Higher pressure and cyclic service
BX Self-tightening Pressure-energized; limited flange separation API 6A wellhead and high-pressure vessels

Materials and Hardness Control

The gasket must deform into the groove without damaging the flange face. We control material hardness against the flange material and the specified maximum. Soft iron and low-carbon steels are used with common carbon steel flanges; 304 and 316 stainless grades suit stainless and more corrosive duties; duplex and nickel alloys are selected for higher strength, temperature or aggressive media.

Material group Grades we quote Maximum hardness guidance (HBW)
Soft iron Pure iron, 08/10 90–120
Low-alloy steel F5 130
Martensitic stainless 410 140
Austenitic stainless 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 321, 347 150–160
Duplex stainless S31803 210
Nickel alloys Inconel 600, Inconel 625, Monel 400 150–200

Final grade and hardness are confirmed from the flange material, medium, design temperature and pressure.

Critical Specifications We Confirm

  • Gasket type and standard: R oval or octagonal, RX or BX; ASME B16.20, API 6A or GB/T 9128.1/GB/T 9182.2.
  • Flange interface: nominal size, pressure class, groove number, groove angle and groove depth.
  • Ring dimensions: outside diameter, inside diameter, axial height, cross-section, corner radii and surface finish.
  • Material: grade, hardness, heat treatment and traceability.
  • Service: medium, design pressure and temperature, thermal cycling, hydrogen or sour service where applicable.
  • Marking and documentation: size, type, material, heat number and certificate scope.

We quote against the flange drawing or groove number, not only the nominal pipe size. Where the flange is non-standard, we work from a dimensional sketch or sample.

Custom Manufacturing and Production Control

Special specifications can be customized according to drawings. Our dual production bases in Zhejiang and Gansu allow material, machining and inspection to be aligned within one organization. During production, parameters are monitored and technical troubleshooting is provided for manufacturing challenges. The proposal states the execution standard, material grade, hardness target, inspection items and documentation scope.

Repeat orders are produced to the same drawing and material specification. Packaging and marking are agreed to protect sealing faces and identify size, type, material and heat number where required.

Installation, Handling and Replacement

Metal ring gaskets are single-use components. They are replaced whenever the joint is broken. The groove and flange faces must be clean, dry and free of radial marks; the ring must sit evenly in the groove; bolts are tightened in the specified sequence to the flange design torque. Delivery documents include handling and installation guidance, and we support repeat orders against the original drawing or sample.

Information We Use to Configure Your Solution

We prepare a configuration and quotation from the project data below. Missing items are confirmed with you before production.

Quality, Documentation and Project Support

Our service process starts with one-on-one requirement alignment, material review and process analysis. Production is scheduled across the Zhejiang and Gansu bases, and post-production documentation and usage guidance are provided. Inquiries are answered within 12 working hours. For project orders, the inspection plan, material certificate, dimensional report and marking are agreed before production; certification documents held by the company are supplied for the scope stated at quotation.

Our full sealing product range covers fluoroplastic gaskets, sheets, rods, tubes and machined parts for projects that combine metal ring joints with PTFE, PFA, PEEK, PI or PVDF components.

Metal Ring Gasket FAQs

What is the difference between R, RX and BX metal ring gaskets?

R rings have an oval or octagonal cross-section and seal in standard ring-joint flanges. RX rings are lens-shaped, with initial line contact that broadens as pressure rises. BX rings are pressure-energized and self-tightening for API 6A high-pressure service. Selection follows the flange standard, pressure class and groove.

Which material is suitable for a metal ring gasket?

Soft iron and low-carbon steel suit common carbon steel flanges; 304 and 316 stainless grades suit stainless and more corrosive duties; duplex and nickel alloys are used for higher strength, temperature or aggressive media. The gasket hardness must remain below the flange hardness. We confirm grade and maximum hardness from the working point.

Can you produce non-standard metal ring gaskets to drawings?

Yes. Special specifications are customized according to drawings or samples. Send the dimensional sketch, material, hardness, execution standard and quantity; we review the groove interface and confirm the production drawing before quoting.

What information do you need for a quotation?

Flange standard, size and pressure class; groove number or drawing; gasket type; material and hardness; medium, design pressure and temperature; quantity; inspection and documentation scope; packaging and marking; and required delivery date. We reply within 12 working hours.
