PTFE Thread Seal Tape Manufactured in Four Controlled Grades
Gansu Juxiang Fluoroplastics Technology Co.,Ltd. is a fluoroplastic manufacturer based in Yumen City, Gansu Province, producing PTFE thread seal tape alongside sheets, rods, tubes, gaskets and machined sealing parts. As a PTFE Thread Seal Tape manufacturer, we hold the product as four defined grades — JUXIANG-F900, F901, F902 and F903 — rather than one generic specification, so instrumentation fittings, plant pipework and maintenance stores can each be supplied against a fixed set of measured values.
Each grade is described by tensile strength, elongation at break, apparent density, width, thickness and spool length. Those six values decide how the tape compresses into a tapered thread, how it behaves during make-up, and how many joints a fitter completes before a roll runs out.
Range, Dimensions and Where Each Grade Fits
| Grade | Tensile strength (MPa) | Elongation at break (%) | Apparent density (g/cm³) | Width (mm) | Thickness (mm) | Length (m) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| JUXIANG-F900 | 15–40 | 50–120 | 0.7–1.0 | 4–16 | 0.05–0.15 | 5000–1500 |
| JUXIANG-F901 | 10–19 | 70–150 | 0.6–1.2 | 20–70 | 0.05–0.2 | 500–15 |
| JUXIANG-F902 | 15–25 | 80–120 | 0.7–1.0 | 4–16 | 0.05–0.15 | 5000–1500 |
| JUXIANG-F903 | 10–15 | 150–200 | 1.0–1.6 | 4–6.5 | 0.3–0.5 | 50–70 |
Spool length is tied to thickness: at 0.05 mm a spool carries up to 5000 m, at 0.15 mm up to 1500 m, and the 0.2 mm F901 spool carries 15 m. F900 and F902 share the same narrow dimensional band and differ in their tensile and elongation windows; F901 opens out to 20–70 mm for large pipe threads and maintenance work; F903 is a thick, high-density tape for coarse or worn threads.
- F900 — long-run 4–16 mm tape for pneumatic fittings, instrument manifolds and assembly benches where spool changes interrupt output.
- F901 — wide tape for 1½ inch and larger pipe threads, valve bonnets, tank outlets and general plant maintenance.
- F902 — general-purpose 4–16 mm tape for water, air and process lines in the ⅛–1 inch range.
- F903 — 0.3–0.5 mm high-density tape that fills wider thread clearances on coarse, damaged or frequently reopened joints.
Application Fit: Threads, Media and Service Limits
Thread seal tape works on tapered threads — NPT, BSPT and their metric equivalents — where it is drawn into the clearance between male and female threads and compressed into a thin, non-curing PTFE film. It is not a face gasket and does not replace one on flanged, O-ring or gasket-seated joints.
- Potable and process water, compressed air, inert gas, heating and cooling circuits, and chemical service inside the continuous service window of PTFE.
- Brass, stainless steel, carbon steel, galvanised and plastic pipe threads where low make-up torque and clean disassembly matter.
- Joints that are opened for maintenance: uncured tape releases without solvent soaking or wire brushing of the thread.
- Not for oxygen service, high-vacuum systems, or where tape fragments could reach a control valve, instrument or hydraulic circuit downstream.
- Not a lubricant for straight threads and not a substitute for anaerobic sealants on high-pressure hydraulic fittings.
Specifications That Decide Joint Performance
Width and thickness are the first values most lines fix, but density and elongation govern how the tape behaves once the joint is made up.
- Apparent density — 0.6–1.2 g/cm³ across F900, F901 and F902; 1.0–1.6 g/cm³ for F903. Denser tape fills wider clearances and resists shearing during make-up; lighter tape conforms more readily to fine instrument threads.
- Elongation at break — 50–120% on F900, 80–120% on F902, 150–200% on F903. Higher elongation tolerates rough handling and thread damage without tearing mid-wrap.
- Tensile strength — 10–40 MPa depending on grade, which sets how much tension a fitter can apply when drawing the tape into the thread root.
- Width — 4–6.5 mm for instrument and small fittings, 12–16 mm for ½–1 inch pipe, 20–70 mm for large-diameter and maintenance work.
- Spool geometry — core diameter and roll outside diameter are matched to the dispenser, holster or bench reel used on the line.
Production, Consistency and Documentation
Tape is produced at our two production bases in Zhejiang and Gansu, from PTFE resin through to slitting and spooling. Production parameters are monitored during running, and documentation covering the delivered specification is issued with each order.
- Grade-specific windows held for tensile strength, elongation at break and apparent density.
- Width and thickness checked against the ordered dimension, with spool length set by the thickness/length relationship of the grade.
- Custom manufacture to drawing or sample, which is our core service across the fluoroplastic range.
- Technical enquiries answered within 12 working hours, with material and process input from the same team that runs the tape lines.
Within the Wider Fluoroplastic Sealing Range
Thread seal tape is one item in a sealing package, and we supply the adjacent items from the same fluoroplastic portfolio. PTFE Film covers skived and unsintered film for insulation, release and lining duties, while PTFE Adhesive Tape serves cable wrapping, chute lining and sliding surfaces. For flanged connections on the same plant, Expanded PTFE Reinforced Flange Gasket provides the gasketed counterpart to a taped thread.
Information We Use to Configure Your Solution
A quotation is built from the working point rather than from a catalogue number. These are the inputs that let us fix grade, dimensions and pack format without a second round of questions.
- Thread standard and size — NPT, BSPT or metric — together with the pipe or fitting material and nominal bore.
- Media, operating temperature and pressure, and whether the joint is opened routinely or left undisturbed for years.
- Preferred width, thickness and spool length, or the dispenser core diameter if tape is drawn from a holster.
- Pack format: individual wrap or bulk carton, label content, carton marking and any market-specific labelling requirement.
- Per-release or annual quantity, delivery schedule and the destination port or warehouse.
- Any documentation, traceability or approval requirement attached to the order.
Questions We Answer Before an Order
Which grade suits ½ inch NPT water and air lines?
F902 is the general-purpose choice for 4–16 mm work at 0.05–0.15 mm. F900 is specified where longer spools and a higher tensile window reduce changeovers on a production bench. Where threads are coarse, worn or reopened frequently, F903 at 0.3–0.5 mm and 1.0–1.6 g/cm³ fills the wider clearance.
What does apparent density change in practice?
Density controls how far the tape compresses and how much shear it survives during make-up. The 0.6–1.2 g/cm³ band used on F900, F901 and F902 conforms closely to fine threads and instrument fittings; the 1.0–1.6 g/cm³ band of F903 stays in place on larger clearances and rougher surfaces.
Can widths, lengths and spool cores be made to order?
Yes. The range already spans 4–70 mm in width and 0.05–0.5 mm in thickness, with spool length set by thickness. Non-standard widths, spool lengths, core diameters and pack formats are produced to drawing or sample, which is the same customization route we run for machined fluoroplastic parts.
Do you supply tape together with gaskets, film and machined seals?
We do. PTFE, PFA, FEP, PEEK, PI, PCTFE and PVDF products — sheets, rods, tubes, gaskets, seals and custom machined components — ship from the same two production bases, so a project can consolidate its fluoroplastic sealing items under one specification and one documentation set.
